Teaching Today, Leading Tomorrow - Wheatland Middle School

November 26th

With 22 dedicated members, our WMS Student Council group has seen exceptional enthusiasm, involvement, and leadership. Interest has been so strong that we have even had to pause membership until our next election cycle! So Far, we have executed:

  • A Highly Successful Student Dance:
Student Council members planned and hosted a school dance with 95 students in attendance. The event featured a DJ, photo booth, glow-in-the-dark tic-tac-toe, and themed decorations. It was extremely well received by students and staff alike. Chaperones enjoyed themselves so much that many have already asked to help again at future dances.

  • School Spirit Initiatives:
To promote pride and community, the council organized dress-up days for every home basketball game, which has boosted morale and participation throughout the building.

  • November / Shut Down Food Drive:
Students led a schoolwide food drive that collected 272 items to support families in need. Their leadership and effort helped strengthen our culture of service and giving.

Upcoming Events and Projects

  • Community Service at Wheatland Cemetery:
In December, the entire school will participate in a service project placing wreaths on veterans’ graves at the Wheatland Cemetery. This effort is in collaboration with the Laramie Peak VFW Auxiliary #3558 to support and prepare for their annual ceremony.

  • Schoolwide Mini Golf Tournament:
We are excited to host a unique mini golf tournament featuring holes designed and built by school departments, classes, and staff. This event will bring together creativity, collaboration, and friendly competition.

  • 12 Days of Christmas Dress-Up:
To celebrate the season and continue building school spirit, students have planned a fun and festive 12 Days of Christmas dress-up countdown to Christmas break.

Positive Impact

We are already seeing a remarkable increase in student morale, engagement, and school spirit as a result of these initiatives. With the momentum our Student Council has built, we anticipate even greater involvement and impact as we move into the second semester and next spring's election cycle for the 26/27 School year!
