Students from Peak High School traveled to the Quebec 01 Missile Alert Facility south of Chugwater. This trip served two purposes: learning about Wyoming history and learning about career opportunities through military service and also the Wyoming State Parks system. Wyoming State Parks states “This site is significant as the only accessible Peacekeeper Missile Alert Facility left in the world and will strive to preserve and interpret the Cold War history of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, fostering an understanding of the mission and duties of the personnel and crews assigned to work there”. Following the tour of the Quebec 01 site, students headed into Chugwater to eat lunch at the Soda Fountain and to also meet with the owners who shared the history of the building and operation of the business.
