PCSD#1 Kicks-Off the Food 4 Weekends Program Next Week

The Food 4 Weekends Program will begin next week and the families of Platte Co School District #1 still have time to apply to participate in this program. This is an effort of the Platte County Ministerial Association and UW Extension Cent$ible Nutrition and Food Bank of the Rockies to address nutritional needs of families on weekends during the school year. PCSD#1 students may participate in the program with parental permission.

Students will pick up the backpacks on Thursday, August 22, and then return the empty backpacks to school on Monday, August 26th.  The backpack meals will consist of 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 snacks. Volunteers then fill the backpacks to be distributed again the following week on the next Thursday.

Applications for the program may be picked up at all Platte #1 Schools and the District Office located at 1350 Oak Street in Wheatland. You may also access the application by clicking HERE.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call your student’s Principal or Vicki Hechtner 307-322-3175.

For more information, please stop by the Food 4 Weekends booth at the Back to School BBQ on Thursday, August 15th, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm to be held in the Wheatland High School Courtyard.  We’ll see you there!
