At their regular board meeting Monday, the Platte County #1 school board recognized the 2019 Teacher and Support Staff persons of the year. The 2019 Teacher of the Year is Wheatland High School Ag teacher/FFA advisor Brice McIntosh. As one nominator began by saying “To find the starting point for Mr. McIntosh is the easy part, but to list all that he has done for WHS, the students, and the community is the hard part,” Mr. McIntosh has transformed the WHS Ag classes and the Wheatland FFA chapter into sweepstakes winners and state champions. Another nominator said, “Over the last few years, Brice has inspired his students to become the best that they can possibly be. He creates an environment where his students know that hard work and dedication lead to great things.” Congratulations, Mr. McIntosh!
Mr. McIntosh could not attend Monday nights’ board meeting, but will be recognized by the board at their June meeting. His name will now be forwarded to the Wyoming Department of Education to represent Platte County #1 for 2020 Wyoming Teacher of the Year, named in January.
Our 2019 Support Staff Person of the Year is Tammy Berg. Tammy currently serves as the Accounting Clerk at the Central Office; a position she has held for the past 11 years. Prior to serving at the Accounting Clerk, Tammy held the position of Transportation Secretary at the bus garage for 22 years. As her nominator stated, “Tammy has shown me qualities of capability in any task given to her, perseverance in character, and a rare work ethic that anyone would admire.” Over the past year Tammy has demonstrated those attributes even further and provided leadership in the Business Office that has been above and beyond her normal duties. Congratulations, Mrs. Berg!
