Teaching Today, Leading Tomorrow - Glendo Schools

In December, we had the privilege of watching our students perform their holiday program, which they had been working tirelessly on. Preschool through 9th grade students were involved, and the entire gym was filled with an audience, leaving standing room only! The play, titled “What Could Go Wrong the Night Before Christmas,” featured many fun musical intermissions performed by our elementary students. Mrs. Hanni and Mr. Franke dedicated countless hours to ensuring the program was a huge success, and our school community is very thankful for their dedication.
Coming up in January, we will be taking our winter WY-TOPP assessments to monitor student growth and provide practice with state standardized assessments. We are very hopeful that our students will rise to the challenge, as we have been implementing individualized math and language arts interventions for kindergarten through 8th grade throughout this past semester. One of the many reasons students at Glendo Schools are so fortunate is that we are able to explicitly determine students’ academic needs and intentionally build time into their school days to help them succeed beyond what is taught in their homerooms. Additionally, our secondary students will be competing in the state Agri-Science Fair in Worland this coming February. Students have been exploring their own interests in agriculture and conducting research for the past few months to prepare.
Boys middle school basketball will begin this month, and Glendo is excited to have a team to cheer on, led by Coach Jennifer Eller. Many teammates will be returning from last year’s team, and we are eager to see the growth in our players. Glendo FFA is also on the verge of one of its biggest fundraisers yet, which includes the sale of branded blankets. Students collected brands from 63 community members, which were compiled onto a blanket that will be available for purchase soon. Additionally, a Glendo FFA 6th grader qualified in the top four of the National Western Stock Show Public Speaking Contest and will be competing in the coming weeks. Our secondary students are also working on a yearbook this year to document the many fun and exciting activities taking place. They meet every few weeks, and this project has provided students with valuable experience in leadership, organization, and digital proficiency outside of the classroom.
