What is CTE?

Career and technical education, or CTE, is education that directly prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers. CTE covers many different fields, including agriculture, business and information technology, welding, woods and manufacturing, hospitality and child development and many more.  For more information, please visit the national Career Clusters and ACTE’s What is CTE? and Sector Sheets.   CTE encompasses many different types of education, from classroom learning to certification programs to work-based learning opportunities outside the classroom.

In PCSD#1, we celebrate Mr. Hazen’s Industrial Tech classes, Mrs. Hadley’s Family and Consumer Science classes, Mr. McIntosh, Mr. Edelman and Mr. Lay’s Agriculture classes, and Mrs. Caster and Mrs. Philo’s Business and Digital Arts classes. Along with learning through coursework, CTE students have the opportunity to compete at state and national levels in FFA and FBLA.  These dedicated teachers work hard to help students prepare for their futures, be that becoming members of the workforce, military, technical school, or college. THANKS for all you do for our students!
