Over 60 kindergarten through 5th grade students are learning about computer science as a part of this spring’s afterschool computer programming club running at West Elementary this spring. The club is headed by teachers Cindy Amundson, Linda Boughton and Nicole Jeffries.  Students are learning a variety of skills including how to program and race Ozobots and their own custom-created tracks, use the popular computer game Minecraft to learn the basics of computer programming language, and writing their own code to run Lego Logo robots. The program will run the remainder of this spring and the district will continue to expand offerings in this high needs area. Teachers and staff in Glendo, Wheatland and Chugwater are continuing to expand computer science offerings to all students in the district to help meet the growing nationwide need in this area.
