On Friday, November 10, 2017, Wheatland High School held its annual Veteran’s Day breakfast and assembly. The WHS Student Council prepared and served breakfast to veterans and their families. Following the breakfast, the students, staff, veterans, and community members listened to Colonel Manfred Rietsch’s presentation. Colonel Rietsch immigrated to the United States from Germany as a young boy and joined the Marine Corp. In the Marine Corp, Colonel Rietsch flew missions over Vietnam and Desert Storm. He served as a Top Gun instructor and sold F-18s to the Kuwaiti military. After retiring, Colonel Rietsch moved to Wheatland, Wyoming to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a ranch where he is raising Red Angus cattle.
